Initiations of Universal Reality

We breathe forth the tenderness of the Father’s revelation of the reality of the Self into space. And we call to the great eternal seed of flame within the chalice of the individual heart to be activated by the living seed of Reality that is within each heart, that we may make known the mystery of the garment of initiation.

To initiate one into the law of being is to exalt the passions of Reality within the individual and to cause that one to feel the flame of cosmic comfortability whereby the individual monad in his expression is drawn very close to the heart of God, to the heart of Reality, where he can shed the skin of the snake, the garment of the wolf, and all that is voluptuous and carnal and of the world, and happily be clothed upon with the garment of the anointing of the Most High God.

Thou hast chosen me to preach the gospel unto the poor and to bind up the wounds of those who are in anguish and to bring comfort unto men.[1] Thus, the garment (mantle) of initiation drops upon the waiting soul, and at last the soul perceives the reality of Self—not as manifestation alone, but as man of God, as the good man (as conceived in the homoousian[2] doctrine), the one vested with the precepts of immortal life. For I say unto all of you tonight that it is not longevity alone that men should seek, but to live well and to live in service full, and in a sense of the majesty of God and the majesty of possibility and the realization that perfect love casts out all fear.[3]

You come to us with hearts of expectancy and we vibrate through space the challenge of this moment, which is the challenge of every moment that has ever passed and of every moment that ever will be. For this moment, this now—this moment when you bask in the flame of living Truth as it draws nigh unto you— you can respond! You can feel the infinite love of those Creator consciousnesses— the higher ones, the Law of Life manifest in the higher octaves that has spoken and said, “Let us make man in our image and after our likeness!”[4]

When this cry went forth, reality bloomed in space and the star of Truth shone to all. But the darkness was pushed back by the Light, and space receded by the objectivity of cosmic reality and cosmic universality: a god was born.

“We have seen his star in the east”[5]  is a mantram echoed by humble men, shepherds in the fields. But the whole world has been called to this high calling to be a Son of God, to give forth light, to permit the atoms of self to shine, to comprehend the mystery of the very bony structure of man called together by the living, immortal Spirit, to comprehend the firmament of the mind—how the mind was firmed in basic ideas and how these ideas scintillated forth to declare and hold forth for all time the majesty of permanent reality and to see to it that in the echo chambers of the responsive heart there went forth the realization of the meaning of points of light within the being.

For man is not just an egg! He is not just an embryo! He has moved on the evolutionary cycle a fraction of an inch, but some have rocketed out of the socket of mortal density and they have exceeded their peers. They have ascended into Reality. They have become one with us who are in the Light. And we wait and claim all men for their own mission of Universal Reality.

And Light flashes in the mind and being of man. And Light is more than words. Light is the Word! “And the Word was made flesh.”[6] And therefore, all things that have been externalized in form are created to become the majesty of the formless that also chooses to take the higher form even as He selects it at will.

For there are higher forms—designs made by God, designs made by the hierarchy, designs fashioned beyond all the scope of the imagination and the geometrization of mortal consciousness or all factors known to the mind of man but sensed deeply within the silent recesses of the soul that, like a still pond, now, as we play the light ray of peace upon it, understands the meaning of cosmic tranquility:

O Peace, be still, and know the I AM within you is God![7]

This God, this passion for Reality, this straining to Life, is hindered only by the dark and sordid thoughts that stem from vain imaginations.[8] And therefore, let us put to sleep for a moment those imaginations that have troubled the hearts of men with sordid and ugly pictures, that have created the illusion of hatred, that have created and fostered the illusion of greed in the world. Let it end in the solemn realization that I AM come that ye might have Life, and that more abundantly.[9]

The secret of the abundant Life is the secret of the flame within the heart that clothes the outer self and the being of man with the inward radiance that he already is. Respond, then, and see that the points of light that compose the body of substance, that compose the body of the intellect, that compose the body of the Spirit, all together can respond to the passion of Light, the love of Light that inflames the soul. For when this Light inflames the soul in one point in space, it can also expand to many points and many sons of God.

   Initiation, my brethren—I speak of it. And initiation is a magnificent concept when grasped; for it means that the varied experiences that occur in the world of form to you, the little happenings in the mind, all have their place in the divine schema—a place calculated to draw and magnetize Reality to you.

But when the soul turns to outer things and desires to do harm unto men and to create darkness—then, you see, because it is utilizing the energy of the Light in reverse, it creates its negative patterns which always return to the feet of the one who sends them forth. And yet, whereas the karmic stones have dropped upon the senseless heads of men, pounding them again and again, it seems as though they sleep on, sleep on, sleep on.

Yet, in every age there are some who understand the meaning spoken of old: “Cephas, yea, I AM the Christ, the Rock. And flesh and blood have not revealed this unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And upon this Rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it!” [10]

For the devil shall fear and tremble where you walk when you grasp the power of Universal Reality, when you talk with the gods who have already attained to that stature—those who have gone before you into Galilee,[11] those who have gone before you into Jerusalem, into the City of Peace, those who have attained their place beyond the veil—a sure anchor that cannot fail. The tenderness, then, of life that loves our Father dear Goes beyond the veil and brings to you right here The Light that does not fail!

And when that Light within you, embodied in form, draws more light unto itself—then, you see, man becomes a sun, a solar magnet; and he draws to himself the qualities of universal victory, a sense of overcoming which man in his carnal state does not possess. He does not possess it: he chooses rather to confess his sins, his blames, his peccadilloes, his errors, when the one error of all life is the error of failing to understand who he is!

He is a Son of God. He was called to the highest purpose. For God chose not to bring but one Son to captivity,[12] but many, and vested many with the breathing garment of living flame.

I AM Maitreya. I come to you to revive in you a sense of the living Christ— a sense of the living Christ that lives within you! A sense of the Christ that I now would bring into view!

What of your shames? What of your wrongs? Cast them all into the flame and let them always depart, but remember one thing: You must always cleave to the Light and the purposes of the Light. You must understand the Golden Rule. You must understand that whene’er you fool any individual, you but fool yourself; for God is in him also.

And therefore, the key to all progress is in the wearing of the garments of the living Christ and the entering in to His reality. This is Life—abundant Life! This is Truth—all Truth! This is oneness with the Father.

And the proof of this is in the eating thereof: If you eat his flesh and drink his blood by becoming like him in your thoughts, your outer forms can change, your minds can change. All that in you now seems puny and relative in its iniquity can be cut free for all eternity and be, as we are, a child of the Sun! This you are now.

Won’t you let go? Won’t you let go of the finite self and its dimension, and live here as witnesses of the Truth, as children of the dawn? I, Maitreya, say to you that this conference will bring forth some very marvelous things into your minds and beings, but you must be alert!

And therefore, tonight I ask each one of you to pray unto God, to your own Lord Christ, to the entire spiritual hierarchy, and but request a clearing of your minds and beings by the flame. And I will do for you all that the Lords of Karma will allow. This I pledge you. This I give you. This is my vow!
